A Global Stage for Local Talent
In a defining moment for Halifax’s creative scene, House of Soli—through its trailblazing agency Soli Productions Management Inc.—made waves at New York Fashion Week (NYFW), proving that world-class talent can emerge from anywhere.
Spearheaded by CEO and Creative Director Solitha Shortte, Soli sent 17 diverse models to walk the runway for sustainable fashion label KeiKaiKoa, marking a powerful debut on one of the industry’s most prestigious stages.
“We went from a small studio in Halifax to the epicenter of global fashion. Our message was clear: diversity is not a trend—it’s the future.”

Representing Real Diversity
What made Soli’s NYFW debut stand out wasn’t just the talent—it was the intention behind the casting. The models represented a spectrum of ages, races, genders, sizes, and body types—challenging mainstream fashion’s rigid beauty standards.
From plus-size models with natural curls to gender-diverse talent and tattooed professionals, each person brought a story—and a purpose—to the runway.
“Every model we sent to NYFW was hand-picked not just for their look, but for their voice. They’re walking with pride, identity, and power.”
— Soli Coach & Choreographer, House of Soli
Collaboration with KeiKaiKoa
KeiKaiKoa, a rising eco-conscious label based in California, sought out Soli Productions specifically for their inclusive model roster. The partnership exemplified how fashion houses are increasingly turning toward agencies that align with their values—not just their aesthetics.
The featured collection fused island-inspired silhouettes with upcycled fabrics, drawing attention to both climate justice and cultural storytelling—an ideal match for Soli’s brand ethos.
A Win for Atlantic Canada
Soli’s appearance at NYFW wasn’t just a success for the models—it was a moment of visibility for Atlantic Canada’s fashion talent. Until recently, many believed that runway dreams required relocation to Toronto, Montreal, or New York.
This milestone proves otherwise.
“We didn’t just show up—we belonged there. And now, so many others in our community can start seeing themselves on that same path.”
— Solitha Shortte
Behind the Scenes
The NYFW journey was documented by a small media team and will be released as part of Soli’s upcoming “Model Moves” mini-series, set to stream later this year on Soli’s platforms. It will chronicle the lead-up to the show, fittings, emotional backstage moments, and the runway finale.
